Welcome to the official website for the election of Tommy Jones for Mayor of Los Banos!

...In my time as mayor of Los Banos I have worked to bring the vision that all of us have for Los Banos.  I believe in creating greater quality of life by increasing jobs and building schools for our residents. And not only is it my vision, I am putting it into action.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • 375 New Businesses in 2007

  • Restaurants, Clothing Stores

  • Networking and Technology based businesses

  • Auto Sales Companies and more

  • Completion of Martin Luther King Jr. Child Development Center

  • Completion of the CCID Pedestrian Bridge

  • Continued upgrades to our downtown
  • Broke ground on our first low to moderate income apartment complex to satisfy RDA requirements
  • Dedicated the Veteran’s Memorial Park
  • Helped gain community support for the passage of Measure K
  • Continued work with the School Board on joint-use agreement for facilities and park land
  • Received $4.8 million in state and federal grants
  • Large increase in commercial development and retail in 2007-2008
  • Started recycling program in Spring 2008
  • Crime is continuing on a downward trend
  • 15% reduction in violent crimes & 50% decrease in robbery and aggravated assaults *
  • in comparing statistics from 2006 to 2007

FUTURE PLANS

We still have challenges ahead and I am the most qualified to meet these challenges head on.  We must work to overcome the slowing economy and affects of the California State Budget deficit.  I will create more ‘green’ initiatives that position us to be leaders in this continuing shortage of oil and natural resources.

I will continue work on Technology Drive Industrial Park and plan and develop Rail Trail.
